Edited by Kicad 5, so the schematics and PCB have been upgraded
This was mostly my own attempt to understand the circuit and its protocol, but the reorganization may improve readability (though that's in the eye of the beholder). I thought I'd leave this attempt here in case you wanted to incorporate any or all of it.
