image appears small in graphical layout

i have a image which i need to put it as an image view in android layout for 
tablet 3.0... the image looks well in landscape mode.. but in portrait mode , 
the image shrinks and nearly half of my screen is blank and spacious

This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the Android Asset Studio or 
Design Preview...
