This is an iphone limitation, iphone turns wifi off when the phone is locked....

yeah.. i want to avoid setting the auto-lock to NEVER because it drains so much

I would suggest a cydia app... "insomnia" and it has a pro version... This can
keep wifi
Enabled.... Try it!

Also, backgrounding isnt enabled with this app unless u edit the plist to do
so, if u folloe the links i have in the other forums, i have included a copy of
an already edited version...

There is another way which is much simpler. Connect your device to a power
source(i.e. Charge it) and make your device go to sleep.
While charging, Apple keeps the wifi on throughout. There is no need to enable
multitasking or any other workaround or install a cydia package.
Works by default.

Make sure you're on the app when you put it in sleep mode.

For backgrounding, you do NOT need to edit the plist. Please see my comment

Thats bc itrans 2 has a different developer and this is not the page for that
support, ios5 backgrounding isnt supported...

Neither charging the phone keeps itransmission downloading files nor insomnia
helps. I have edited the plist but still i am not able to download when my
iphone is locked . please help... I am using iphone 3gs with ios 6.1.2.
