The Assimilation protocol is based on a TLV (Type-Length-Value) data format at its lowest level. The code for this needs to be rewritten in Rust.

At least the following TLV frame types need to be supported:

[x] u8
[x] u16
[x] u24 (probably)
[x] u32
[x] u64
[x] IPv4 Address
[x] IPv6 Address
[x] IP address (either v4 or v6)
[x] C-style string
[x] sequence number
[x] signature
[x] compression frame (non-compressing)
[x] encryption frame
[ ] IP+port frame ??
[ ] JSON-specific frame
