the 2.0 pre-complied doesnt do this anymore (on right click),
it throws the error when trying to open 'column setup'
might be worth nothing that the ppa build works (not clue why?)
this has been reported in Issue 258

I have this issue on ubuntu lucid with the binary version 2.2.
Don't have it if I compile from the sources of the same 2.2 version. Strange ?

Just compiled it myself also. 2.2 version and now I don't have the problem
anymore.

What Lazarus and FPC versions do you have?

I installed them through the ubuntu repositories :
fp-compiler: 2.4.0-2
lazarus: 0.9.28.2-8ubuntu1

I installed it with sudo apt-get install lazarus on Kubuntu 10.10.
Fpc was automatically installed with lazarus
lazarus 0.9.28.2-10ubuntu1
fpc 2.4.0-2

Hi,
Just had the error again with the transgui-3.0.1-i386-linux.zip binary. Setup
Columns gives an access error.
Build it again myself with
fp-compiler: 2.4.0-2
lazarus: 0.9.28.2-8ubuntu1
and then I don't get the error.
This was in the console during the error.

You need to patch Lazarus LCL library to fix this problem. Or use the latest
Lazarus.
Original comment by j...@cp-lab.com

What do you mean?
I get the error from the binary from this site and don't have the error when I
build it myself.
Lazarus is the compiler right? So what would it change to the binary from the
download section over here?
I already have the latest stable Lazarus (0.9.28.2-8)
Original comment by r.korv...@gmail.com

Oh, I misunderstood you.
I use the same Lazarus and FPC versions. Probably different build options are
used...
It is better to wait for Lazarus 0.9.30. It will fix lot of problems...

K, no prob.
Will building it myself if the error continues in the next release.
Thanks for taking the time to respond and all the work you put in this great
prog.

Seems this is not debian/ubuntu specific. I'm having this issue on FC14 with
both the precompiled binary and the one I compiled with lazarus-0.9.28.2-1 and
fpc-2.4.0-1.
