Horizontal scrolling does not work on Mac OS X as expected

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use scroll ball on Mighty Mouse or two-finger-scrolling using trackpad on 
any modern MacBook to see that horizontal scrolling does not work in lists the 
way it works almost everywhere on Mac OS X.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.1.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard)

also, as related issue, I get the horisontal scroing bar in the torents list 
frame when there is nothing to scroll. I expect the bar to not be reflected, if 
the data fits the frame. 
2.1.1 on Mac 10.6.4. 
My screen resolution 1280*768
