Chatted with the IRIS team. They mentioned the following high-level requirements:

  1. IRIS usually takes a series of images (not just a single image).
  2. Memory can get full. Typically images are overwritten, but we could simulate something else.
  3. Some images can be corrupted. But it's not clear whether this is handled on the satellite or at the ground-station level.
  4. There needs to factory reset / power cycle feature to restore IRIS to some default state.

After gleaning through ExAlta2's ground-station command docs:

  1. Set time (likely done after LEOP and hard resets)
  2. Deliver log: tell OBC to perform log transfer from Iris and store it into SD card
  3. Get housekeeping: send whole state
  4. Deliver image: tell OBC to perform image transfer from Iris and store those images into SD card
