The impossibility of saving was made on purpose, since the player is used by ordinary users and displaying milliseconds is very rarely needed for watching movies, TV series, and clips.
What? seriously... what? figuratively I am stunlocked
I am not asking that you make it default setting, I was asking when you close the program and open again, it would remember my choice. This setting is so hidden than no ordinary users would even missclick to turn it on, if it was not in the changelog 99% people wouldn't even know that there is a milliseconds option.
What is most surprising, that you spend time to implement/code this in, why did you put it in, when "noone" will ever use it ? Actually... What is the downside that it will remember milliseconds setting ? will it hog resources ? make it crash ? it is visually disturbing ? I was using Phenom II X3 720 from 2009 to 2018, and only time I started to have issues with watching, was when the video was 4k 60fps, I could watch 4k 30fps without issues (on CPU, not GPU, never used HW decoding I had mostly Radeon and those are terrible, nowdays it is little bit better) and if it is the visually disturbing they didn't turn it on mistake, they can turn it off again...
Can you explain why milliseconds are needed when watching a video, and constantly? I understand that sometimes it is necessary, well, to find out the time of a certain moment as accurately as possible, but not when people are watching a movie.
So you are watching some cool scene, you make a screnshot, you think that you have a better detail option, but NO! Everytime you want to do this , you need to right click on the timer and turn on a thing... just why ?
It is principle, you spend time to install something to automate, you tell about it to people, and then you are ... naaah, you need to do manual work every time, instead of being automatic.
I thought that you use only registry, and not the *.ini file as saving setting and you just forgot about it, so it is a bug. Didn't think that I needed to explain why people like to have detailed overview.

1.6.11 - 2023-12-27: If the "Show milliseconds" setting is active (Status), then milliseconds will be recorded in the screenshot file name.
Some people like to have detailed overview of things, is that video lagging because frame drop or the video was wrongly encoded ? is it in SW or HW decode ? not everyone love how most "developer" hide everything behind some roll out/collaps thing where you need to click 4x to unhide things every time ... I never understood why People were mad about Window 8 start menu, because I forgot that lot of people like to use Start menu, and not use the task bar quick shortcuts... or any other way to open most used programs
I think Sarcasm(or it is passive aggressive?, it should be sarcasm) will be good example : Why you do have automatic subtitles/audio picker ? just get rid of it , and everytime pick it in manualy like in good old days Why did you implement file position ? just write it on a paper or do it like in good old times, when the video started every time from 0 and you needed to find where you ended last time
For me open source software are about these things: Portable, modular(like I can as a user choose how I use/set-up my software ), and free(I would lie if I say otherwise) I fully understand that this is your hobby(or other synonym), you do it in your free time, and you mostly do what you want(because you are not paid) but you do implement most features, that other people have different tastes, and you give them option to turn off/on things
Hi, so in 1.6.11 - 2023-12-27 you did add this neat feature If the "Show milliseconds" setting is active (Status), then milliseconds will be recorded in the screenshot file name. , but till now(1.8.1 - 2024-11-07) it doesn't remember when you turn it on, at least in the mpc-be.ini/mpc-be64.ini file (I never want to use non-portable settings, if there is a portable version)
Could you make it that it saves this setting in the file please ?
