lucatortiglione commented 6 months ago

I would also ask if there is any hope to drop Firefox fork in favour of Librewolf

This would be the best choice..I love LibreWolf..

First unofficial fork I went to and sad to know it probably isn't getting updated at all, it's been having issues with modern sites so I guess I have to switch

I removed it from my pc for now, and went back to LibreWolf, Seems like this one is abandoned.

what sense to infinitely updating browser? all sites (youtube, social networks, etc), what im using, just works without problems and i dont think, what they will be broken of other peoples. Also, i guess, what Mercury not in high priority for keep updating in, author working with Thorium and other patched software, you just need a little more time for wait and that's all.

ghost commented 5 months ago

I don't think I will use any software from this person. He spawned too many projects that are clearly beyond his ability to maintain them all. He has the habit of abandoning his old projects to go with the new, shining ones. His support is also almost non-existent. Most of the time, I found him to ignore issues posted by users. I think the only thing he will keep working on is Thorium and his VSCodium fork for Windows 7. Others are just side projects for fun.

You don't have to ask. I have stopped using your software a long time ago. I only reply because someone here said other users should wait. No. They don't have to wait. Go and find other solutions. This is the correct answer.

Alright, I'm waiting but I need to know if the project is not abandoned ?

Thanks.

gz83 commented 5 months ago

The project has not been abandoned. The reason for the slow update pace is that Alex is dealing with his personal affairs and does not have much time for development.

@wealstarrr

Thank you for the response. Good to know that Project is being maintained. I'm not infected with "latest version" disease so slow update stream doesn't really bother me so long the version I'm on continues to work.

Having said that, still need updates once in a while. Will keep an eye on the progress.

Kind regards

Now based on version 129.0.2, it will probably be released soon.

wealstarr commented 2 months ago

@gz83 why not 130 ? or even 131 ?

gz83 commented 2 months ago

We are not in a hurry to update to the latest version, the latest things are not necessarily good

@wealstarr

wealstarr commented 2 months ago

@gz83 Actually I wanted the new sidebar and vertical tabs Mozilla implemented in 131.

gz83 commented 2 months ago

Sorry, please at least wait until these versions reach the stable branch, otherwise mercury will not be updated to these versions

@wealstarr

wealstarr commented 2 months ago

@gz83

131 is just one week away. We have waited 6 months, we can certainly wait one more week. Besides, after the update it will be another long pause so it's best to do it on the latest.

gz83 commented 2 months ago

Updating to version 129 was Alex's decision and I have no right to interfere or change it.
