An alternative way is by using homebrew. If you use it, then you can simply run this command on your terminal:

brew install --cask alex313031-thorium --no-quarantine

This lets you get past apple's gatekeeper for just this specific package.

I just take an extra step ( go to privacy and open anyway ) to open this app first time. I recommend the author to fix this problem.

I recommend the author to fix this problem.

As I know, fixing this requires paid Apple developer account ($99/year).

@Alex313031 this issue may need to be pinned, as many users seem not to understand how installing third party software on Apple computers works

midzer commented 6 months ago

Good idea, @p7r0x7

p7r0x7 commented 2 months ago

Can this remain pinned while closed?

midzer commented 2 months ago

No clue, why close the issue?

p7r0x7 commented 2 months ago

It should really only remain open if there's any plan in the distant future to properly sign Thorium.app by paying Apple $99 a year.

midzer commented 2 months ago

Well, there is no plan at all.

This browser is a community effort. So it's their choice whether this money for Apple is worth it.

Leave this one open for good.
