Thorium-XP - SSE4.2 Build #71

Closed dribgnikcom closed 5 months ago

Currently, Thorium-XP is SSE2 only... Would it be possible to get an SSE4.2 build for better performance? I believe XP supports up to SSE4.2 natively (and there might be some user mods for AVX, but that's beyond the scope of this request).

It does run pretty good so far on SSE2 though, I should say. Thanks and great work.

@dribgnikcom Yes, I will make SSE2, SSE3, and SSE4.1 builds for both 32 bit and 64 bit XP/Vista releases.

See the UPDATE: section at the very bottom of the latest release > https://github.com/Alex313031/thorium-legacy/releases/tag/M122.0.6261.168 It also explains why 4.1 and not 4.2

@Alex313031 I would like to try SSE4.1 32bit release for win7 to see how it works on my core 2 duo running 32bit win7, I know it would not be wise to ask for such a release, I'll just try to build it myself by following this page: https://github.com/Alex313031/thorium-legacy/blob/main/docs/BUILDING.md just asking what needs to be changed specially for building sse4.1 for win7 win32?

@fenopa You could use the SSE4.1 32 Bit build build I just made for XP/Vista. The only difference to the Win7+ versions is the addition of progwrp.dll

@Alex313031 thanks, should I remove progwrp.dll when running on win7 or it will ignore it on win7 anyway?
