Thorium not storing my saved password, even after I tell it to when it asks me. #137

Generally this never happens, but after I installed the latest version of Thorium & also copy pasted my Browser data from Windows 7 to ZorinOS, all my passwords were erased, but now i cant even store newly created ones. This is a real pain. I am specifically having issues with ebay.com. I dont know how to solve this. Its a real pain having to login to accounts every single time i want to use a site, i use many accounts & logins.

Migrating user data across platforms does not guarantee that the migrated user data will be fully available. It is recommended to backup important data before migration and then restore the data manually on the new system.

Also, regarding the ebay issue, have you checked whether it is a browser problem or a website problem?

Username23453 commented 1 year ago

@gz83 , i logged into ebay.com with firefox, then i logged back out & firefox saved my password & worked perfect. I dont know why thorium is malfunctioning, but it probably has something to do with the migration i did. idk.

@gz83 , @Alex313031 , when i create a 2nd thorium profile, it remembers my ebay password etc when i login again. But when i do it with my 1st thorium profile it doesnt ever remember it, despite the 1st profile asking me if I want it to remember & me telling Yes I do want it to remember, it still doesnt remember or give me the pull down option when i try to login in again. The 1st profile still stays logged into Ebay, but when i logout of ebay it doesnt remember the passwords i told it to save. Only works with 2nd profile. So something is going wrong with the 1st profile. The 1st & 2nd profiles i migrated from a previous OS. But the 2nd profile never had any saved ebay login credentials.

@Intellectual234

It is possible that the migration corrupted your user data, is the problem now solved?

@gz83 , ur very hasty! haha. No, i need help on how to delete/reset the cookies or user data for all ebay.com URL's in my 1st profile :) And yes I already reset them from my browser, i mean actually go into the user data files themselves & check them & fix them. I need some instructions/direction.

I'm just trying to understand the current progress of this issue to determine which party (the user or the browser itself) is at fault.

To avoid the problem you are experiencing, I still have the same advice as before.

@gz83 , i need to know how to reset all credentials for any ebay root domains, when i do it via browser it doesnt fix problem, without having to start a new profile. My profile has many bookmarks & many extensions with many finetuned settings.etc. Would take a long time to redo. Anyway I can look at the password data files in the thorium user directory? I would need guidance.

@Intellectual234

What do you use to save your ebay passwords? Is it the browser's built-in password manager or a third-party password management extension?

Username23453 commented 1 year ago

@gz83 , i use thoriums password manager, & when it asks if i want to save the password/connect it with my google account I say no. But now, thorium wont save the password locally for some reason with ebay, after the migration many weeks ago.

TheAnnoyingFruit commented 1 year ago

Having this issue as well cannot import my passwords from brave. It does not ask if I want to save my password even though that option is on. It also doesn't save manually added passwords. It seems that the password manager is just broken entirely.

@TheAnnoyingFruit

,@Alex313031, can you please find a way to solve this? a way to reset the password files without having to reset the entire browser config? and a working way to transfer passwords from one browser to another? maybe export it to another format or something?

gz83 commented 1 year ago

We'll try to investigate this.

Please give rational feedback on the issue and don't deal with it emotionally

@gz83 , "and don't deal with it emotionally" . I have no idea what you're talking about...

gz83 commented 1 year ago

I am talking about the questions you raised earlier. You can give feedback, but you must remain rational. We don’t need to continue discussing this topic (whether it’s rational or emotional).

@gz83 , what was irrational about what i said?

TheAnnoyingFruit commented 1 year ago

@Username23453 I believe this issue is now fixed with the latest update of thorium. It is for me at least, please confirm.

Username23453 commented 1 year ago

@TheAnnoyingFruit , Thanks for the comment, no it still doesnt work, but i guess my cookies or passwords file is corrupt, it became corrupt once i transferred user data from an old version to a newer version of Thorium a few months ago. And I havent had the time, to reset all the password & the password cache, and redo all that, which i think is the only solution. Its only a few websites that dont remember the password. Not all of them.

faxotherapy commented 7 months ago

same for me, not saving password for version 120.0.6099.273 Stupidly annoying. Thorium seems to be best used to browse swiftly websites, but for registered accounts, using another browser is better.
