Clicking on SMS notification does not open Hangouts on Android 4.4/Kitkat #621

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Send SMS to phone
2. Slide down Dash clock extension
3. Click on SMS notification
4. (login to phone)
5. You are taken to HOME screen

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Hangouts should be open to the new SMS message

What version of the product are you using?

v1.5

Which device and Android version are you experiencing this issue on?

Nexus 5 / Android 4.4

Are you using a custom launcher or ROM? If so, which one? Note that custom
launchers and ROMs are not supported.

No

I can also verify this issue - If dashclock is on home screen and a SMS is 
received, clicking on the dashclock notification for it does nothing.

A workaround is to use DashNotifier or AnyDash extensions.

I'll do my best to work around this but the issue is that Hangouts doesn't 
handle ACTION_VIEW on conversation URIs.

com.robbers.dashclock.hangouts looks promising.  It registers as a 
notifications listener.

I hope this problem will be resolved soon as for Nexus 5 Hangouts is the native 
app for SMS.

I've pushed a workaround internally. A workaround fix (that opens Hangouts in 
general, not the specific conversation unfortunately) should go out in 1.6 
(possibly the next beta if there's another beta).
