black bar at bottomof homescreen and lockscreen #798

I am running kitkat 4.4.4 on nexus 4 since a long time now. But suddenly today 
the transparent on screen buttons have appeared with a black background. The 
black bar also remains on the lock screen.

It is annoying me.. Please help.
