Consider future CC interaction #4

Nothing important at all, now the only fantastic thing is having train mod again on tracks after long time, but some sort of future computercraft compatibility would be great as a tandem with railcraft. I talk about detector rails able to work as peripherals, maybe network peripherals, so without the need of a computer detecting for redstone signals, and for example detect a train ID or name set by user, switches with more than two ways to be easily controlled, signals, blocks, scheduling and so on. Imagine also speed control rails that can set specific speed or versus for train.

Ok, you've got me hooked on the idea. Hopefully It won't be too hard to add stuff like that :)

(That also solves the issues I had with multi-points that I was planning)

That is awesome!!! I think CC can definitely help a lot in railcraft and traincraft operaration (: I am currently workig on a fully automated network-based railway lua system, I am a really beginner, but I would be happy to help in some way, in a future a Traincraft or whatever API can be written for CC

I think this shouldn't be done by @AlexIIL itself. I think there are not that many people that like to play with CC or do something special with it.

Other mod-compat have higher prio e.g. Buildcraft ;) :D

But maybe we find a better solution for the controlling part of the rail-system instead of using another mod. To get more control over it besides TC and Railcraft. Will think about some Ideas.

That is a point, yes, I too think how more important it is compat with industrialcraft for example, just to say the overhead lines that always been not so easy to implement and then abandoned, and always buildcraft and railcraft. Let's say ATM is not very easy to have a simple and centralized way to control railways, do some scheduling, have possibility to differentiate trains and have different routes for them, control speed, signaling etc etc. Computercraft could be a good way to go and leave to users possibility to use simple and already written scripts maybe, or just have something similiar embedded in traincraft with its own implementation and user-friendly config or little "GUI".

One little example of another thing actually difficult to do is the reversibility of train, so if a train arrives at a terminal station could be great to have the loco just push the train to the other verse and have an aesthetical control cab on the end of the train, like in real life happens
