CD Key - no soft keyboard or saving of key #37

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start game
2. game loads to CD Key screen
3. game does not store the CD key

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected: be able to enter/paste alphanumeric CD key. have CD key store
after it is entered. Possibly be able to copy a file from installed game on
a PC to the SD Card for this.
actual: CD key has to be skipped or re-entered each time you run kwaak3.
Unable to get soft keyboard to open on CD key page. unable to get
copy/paste to open on CD key page (typed key in a diff app and copied it to
clipboard, couldn't bring up anything to paste it.)
*Hard keyboard on Motorola Droid does numbers by tap ALT then tap
Q,W,E,R,T,Y,U,I,O or P but not on this screen.
**Workaround: like a PC, HOLD ALT and the right key (hold ALT and tap W to
get a 2.)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Kwaak3 version 1, 7.02MB
Motorolla Droid 2.0.1 Build ESD56

Please provide any additional information below.
Would like to either have soft keyboard or be able to bring up the OS's
clipboard options on this entry field.
Game asks for CD key every time it is closed and reopened, needs to be able
to save what was entered or copy the key file from a PC install.

How did you try to use a soft keyboard? There is no soft keyboard support
around at
the moment (although someone somehow managed to use something like this). I
don't
have any control over text fields, it is all stuff q3 handles internally. The
best I
can offer at some point is a button to show a virtual keyboard, then you enter
text
and it gets somehow sent to q3.

If there is no soft keyboard support then there isn't. Makes sense because you
can't do
Windows text editing like right click in Q3 on a PC either. Most Android apps
you can
touch a text field to bring up the soft (touchscreen) keyboard or long press
the screen
to bring up "Edit text." I wonder if there is a way to flag a text field in
kwaak3 so
Android treats it like a text field? Would bringing up the onscreen touch
keyboard
cause a problem with the graphics?

Someone mentioned the CD key in issue 10* is there just not currently support
to save
the CD key or read it from a file? Does the multi-player work or is there a
reason to
even use the key, or is this a moot point at this stage? I hope it was OK to
open
this issue, it seemed more logical than continuing to hijack another issue that
was
not related to the key.

I tried taking the q3key and putting it on /sdcard/quake3/qkey
(Just pushing the file there)
And doesn't seem to work - i still get the popup to enter the key atleast.
Tried putting it in
/sdcard/quake3/q3key
aswell as
/sdcard/quake3/baseq3/q3key
Haven't tried
/sdcard/quake3/baseq3/qkey
yes, so might do that in a few..."

The cd key isn't important. Network play works but you can't play on most online
servers. By default the 'gaming part' of Quake3 is compiled to byte code (qvm)
which
is executed by an interpreter, this is for a part to prevent cheating. This
quake3
port uses native game code of which they can't guarantee the quality, so most
servers
won't work. Only pure servers work.

Incorrect. The cd key is important for single player as it won't allow you to
play anything other than the demo first level. Try selecting another level
without it. You can't they are disabled.

to the person above me, you havent actually played quake 3 have you? :P

The other levels arent unlocked until you beat the previous level. Same as it
is on the windows version.

I would like to be able to enter my C key on my DX though.
