Beholder not functioning over long distances

Using an occult gem that has been linked to a beholder just flat out does not work unless the player is close to the beholder itself.

Can confirm, even using a chunk-loader mod, does not allow it to reach.

I can confirm, using it on own server here, range is limited to 80 blocks
