Suggestion: Ancient Biome Inspired by Old Valyria

Introduce a rare, mysterious biome to the Ice and Fire mod that evokes the grandeur and danger of Old Valyria from the Song of Ice and Fire series. This biome could provide an eerie, lore-rich location for players to explore, packed with challenges, treasures, and unique features.

Biome Name: The Forsaken Dominion

Overview

The Forsaken Dominion is a vast, ancient biome that once housed a mighty civilization of dragonlords. Now, it lies in ruins, shrouded in a mix of volcanic ash, poisonous fumes, and overgrown vegetation. The biome’s defining features include crumbling cities, massive statues of dragons, and remnants of colossal dragon pits.

It is a perilous place, teeming with hostile mobs, traps, and treasures, promising high-risk, high-reward gameplay.

Biome Features

  1. Environment:

    • Volcanic Terrain: Jagged obsidian peaks, smoldering lava rivers, and ash-filled skies give the biome an ominous feel.
    • Ruined Cities: The biome's focal points are sprawling ancient cities with broken castles, grand palaces, and colossal dragon pits.
    • Dense Fog: A constant haze adds to the eerie atmosphere, reducing visibility and heightening tension.
    • Dangerous Flora: Corrupted plants that emit poison gas or attack unwary players.
  2. Structures:

    • Dragon Pit: A massive dome-like structure, the centerpiece of the city, that once housed dragons. Now, it serves as a battleground for daring players to face off against bosses or hordes of mobs.
    • Vaults and Caches: Hidden within the ruins are treasure rooms guarded by traps, puzzles, and mobs, containing rare loot and powerful items.
    • Collapsed Tunnels: Underground passages connect various parts of the city, filled with hidden dangers and additional treasures.

Hostile Mobs

The Forsaken Dominion is home to some of the mod's most fearsome mobs:

  1. Spectral Dragonlords:
    • Ghostly remnants of the dragon-riding civilization that once ruled the biome.
    • Abilities: Summon flame or ice attacks, phase through walls, and curse players with debuffs.
  2. Corrupted Drakes:
    • Small, feral dragons mutated by exposure to volcanic fumes and dark magic.
    • Abilities: Acid breath, quick aerial strikes, and nest-building behavior.
  3. Ashen Undead:
    • Skeletal warriors and mages that rise from the ashes of fallen dragonlords.
    • Abilities: Fire resistance and summoning additional undead mobs.
  4. Lava Golems:
    • Massive constructs patrolling the ruins, created to protect the ancient cities.
    • Abilities: Throw molten rocks, create fire traps, and withstand heavy damage.

Bosses

  1. The Dread Wyrm:

    • A powerful ancient dragon that resides in the dragon pit.
    • Abilities: Multi-element breath attacks (fire, ice, lightning), area-of-effect roars that push players back, and summoning smaller drakes to assist it.
    • Loot: Legendary dragon gear, rare crafting materials, and a dragon egg.
  2. The Archon of Ash:

    • A spectral entity that acts as the guardian of the city's treasures.
    • Abilities: Teleportation, summoning fire storms, and draining player health to heal itself.
    • Loot: Enchanted dragon-scale armor, ancient tomes for powerful enchantments, and unique shields resistant to dragon attacks.

Loot and Treasures

The Forsaken Dominion offers unparalleled rewards for players brave enough to explore it:

  1. Ancient Dragon Gear:
    • Weapons and armor crafted from rare dragon materials, offering bonuses against dragons and elemental mobs.
  2. Dragon Eggs:
    • Unique eggs found in hidden nests or as drops from the Dread Wyrm, allowing players to hatch rare dragon breeds.
  3. Valyrian Relics:
    • Items such as enchanted dragon horns, decorative artifacts, or keys to unlock secret vaults.
  4. Unique Crafting Materials:
    • Ashsteel: A durable alloy used to craft weapons and armor resistant to fire and lava.
    • Obsidian Shards: Used to upgrade shields and tools for enhanced durability and effectiveness.

Additional Features

  1. Quests and Lore:

    • Add NPCs or books scattered across the biome that reveal the tragic story of the dragonlord civilization, enriching the mod's lore.
    • Quests could involve retrieving relics, defeating bosses, or activating ancient dragon forges.
  2. Environmental Hazards:

    • Poisonous fumes that reduce player health over time unless they wear protective gear.
    • Lava geysers that erupt randomly, adding danger to exploration.
    • Occasional dragon-like roars in the distance, creating tension even when no mobs are nearby.
  3. Unique Mechanics:

    • Dragon Pit Arena: Activate an ancient mechanism to summon waves of enemies culminating in a boss fight.
    • Cursed Artifacts: Powerful but dangerous items that grant buffs at the cost of debuffs or health reduction.

Expanded Suggestion: Endgame Content and Required Quests

To fully establish The Forsaken Dominion as endgame content, it should demand that players acquire specific key items and powerful equipment through quests in other challenging areas of the Ice and Fire world. This progression will ensure the biome is an epic culmination of the player's journey.

Quest Items and Their Purposes

  1. Hydra Breath:

    • Acquired From: Defeating a Hydra in its swamp biome.
    • Use: Craft Poison Resistance Potions necessary for surviving the biome’s toxic fumes and encounters with poison-based enemies like corrupted drakes and spectral mages.
  2. Gorgon’s Head:

    • Acquired From: Defeating a Gorgon in her lair.
    • Use: Instantly petrifies specific mobs or mid-tier bosses within the biome, such as lava golems or ashen undead. Limited uses make it a strategic tool.
  3. Gravemaster’s Key:

    • Acquired From: Found in the Mausoleum, guarded by skeletal knights and a Gravemaster boss.
    • Use: Unlocks key structures in the city, such as ancient vaults or the dragon pit arena.
  4. Cyclops’ Eye:

    • Acquired From: Defeating a Cyclops in its mountainous territory.
    • Use: Weakens certain powerful bosses (e.g., the Dread Wyrm or the Archon of Ash), reducing their defenses or disabling their most devastating attacks.

Proposed Questline for the Biome

  1. Phase 1: Gathering Knowledge

    • Players discover fragments of lore through rare books or NPCs hinting at the existence of The Forsaken Dominion and the requirements to enter it.
    • Example: “The toxic air of the Dominion has felled many adventurers. Only those who wield the Hydra's breath can endure.”
  2. Phase 2: Acquiring Key Items

    • Players must venture to different biomes and face existing bosses to collect the hydra breath, gorgon’s head, gravemaster’s key, and Cyclops’ eye.
    • Each quest could involve:
      • Solving puzzles or navigating traps in the boss lairs.
      • Battling through waves of mobs leading up to the bosses.
      • Collecting additional materials (e.g., alchemical ingredients to stabilize hydra breath potions).
  3. Phase 3: Unlocking the Dominion

    • A mature and powerful dragon is necessary to have to be able to reach the biome and survive once there.
    • Upon entering, players are greeted with an imposing sight of the ruined city and a warning of the dangers ahead.
  4. Phase 4: Survival and Strategy

    • Players must rely on their crafted items and previously gathered resources to progress through the biome.
    • Encounters like poison clouds, fire geysers, and swarms of mobs make preparation essential.
  5. Final Phase: Boss Fights

    • Bosses like the Dread Wyrm and the Archon of Ash require strategic use of acquired items (e.g., weakening the Dread Wyrm with the Cyclops’ Eye before combat).
    • The final treasure hoards are guarded by deadly traps and a culmination of all the biome’s challenges.

Additional Details

This layered progression ensures that The Forsaken Dominion serves as an epic and rewarding endgame experience.
