No way to bulk manage files #786

Open wizardwatch opened 3 years ago

There is no way to move, rename, or delete files in batches of more than one. This feature exists in most file browsers and would be of benefit here. Thank you for making treemacs. :}

With dired around I am very reluctant to introduce anything that looks like an "advanced" file management feature. But since other side bars can do it too I think that it does make sense for treemacs to implement this as well.

The problem is mostly in showing which files are actually marked, when things can always change dynamically it's not as simple as just throwing a few overlays around. Maybe when https://github.com/Alexander-Miller/treemacs/issues/788 I'll have the means to properly track marked nodes, but for now I'll put this on the back burner.

Hmm, technically the feature has been around for a bit now. I just need to double-check if I've documented it, and fix a bug where marked files are removed when a buffer is killed, but the visual effect remains.

In the meantime you can already use it, just press M-m to show the hydra.

This issue has been automatically marked as stale because it has not had recent activity (this bot only works as a reminder, it will not close issues).
