Rinnai Heater #80

I have an old Rinnar Gas Heater which has On, Off, Temperature Up and Temperature Down buttons so only 4 hex codes which 2 of them are up and down. I was thinking how to use this config for air conditioner with my heater

Is there anyway to use the Up hex code when temperature is raised and Down hex code when temperature is lowered?
