Latest Binaries trigger multiple Antivirus positives #2

Open enbacode opened 5 years ago

enbacode commented 5 years ago

Describe the bug Multiple Antiviruses report the latest binaries of TPFMM (1.1.58) as a trojan horse. See https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/abdc02a01ef14396a16e8bcda7026fe3357216ed88f6f21cdeaccb603142db8e/detection

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Download the latest release binaries as ZIP from here
  2. Windows Defender already reports Trojan:Win32/Zpevdo.B and moves ZIP to quarantine (on Windows 10 with latest updates).
  3. Remove ZIP from quarantine
  4. Unpack TPFMM.exe to any directory
  5. Upload TPFMM (SHA265 abdc02a01ef14396a16e8bcda7026fe3357216ed88f6f21cdeaccb603142db8e) to virustotal.com
  6. Get a total of 11 positives, including Ad-Aware, BitDefender, McAffee

Expected behavior I expect an open source Mod Manager to have no positives whatsoever

This is still an issue. Actual scan still shows positives.

Hi there, this unfortunately is an issue I cannot solve as easily. Anti-virus scanners often detect all programs they do not recognize as a virus, indiscriminately of this being actually the case. Due to the sheer amount and versitality of viruses today, I cannot blame them for this. One way to solve this is for users of those anti-virus systems to claim a false positive, so that it gets whitelisted in the next update of the virus database. Best regards.
