Maybe could have included a checker when reading from storage

As stated in the UG, the user is not supposed to manually edit any of the files.

Reason for disagreement: I agree with your explanation, as this was tested before i came across the 'Do not edit' message. However, i still think it is a good idea to implement a datachecker for the data files. There may be certain unfortunate situations where the data file gets corrupted due to reasons out of the user's control, hence it will be a good safety net.
