Make Manzat

I am Alexandre Rousselet, A citizen that grew up in this village for all my life. Until my 20 years old I got the chance to see abroad what happen! #ErasmusStudent

This is Christel Rousselet, The Mum of the family. She grew up Paris and then moved to Manzat to educate me in a better condition away from the crowd of the capital!

And here is my dad, He met my mum in Paris and convinced her t o make her leaving Paris for starting a new life in a very rural area of France where the family of my dad has a farm since 4 generations.

Our ambition is to attract international people in our lovely village. For it we are opening our house for residency.

Also, after traveling in Europe for 5 years we are bringing with us many good practice and open source project to do it ourself !

Short description of the town : Manzat is a French town located at the northern limit of the Auvergne volcanoes regional natural park, in the Puy-de-Dôme department, in Auvergne-Rhône Alpes.

It is also the seat of the community of communes Combrailles Sioule and Morge, a community of communes created on January 1, 2017.

Manzat is located in middle france near by the Gour of Tazenat that is a volcanic lake. It was formed by a phreatomagmatic eruption about 29,000 years ago. Aquatic fauna consists of many perch and pike, together with carp, pumpkinseeds, roach, trout and other fish with white flesh.

Guy de Maupassant evokes the lake in his short story Mes vingt-cinq jours ("My Twenty-Five Days"), published in Various Tales in 1885 and in Mont-Oriol in 1887.

Our Vision for Manzat

We see this village as a collaborative village based on local and international communities learning from each other.

The vision is to build an inspiring space in the heart of Manzat, always available to our local members and International residents.

This spaces will complement the other offer of the town with diverse possibilities of collaboration and experimentation.

Artists, makers, designers, digital nomads, researchers — individuals and teams — you are invited. Let’s build Manzat together!

In 2015, I got the chance to leave an Erasmus student experience in Ireland and I figured out how important is it to leave the place you leave to explore the world, learn new culture, language and skills ...

I also figured out how hard is it to come back home after such experience because in the countryside we are quite away from others and their is a big gap

Getting inspired by the hundreds visit of European citizens Developing such a community space in their cities

As Manzat is a nonprofit organization, the people that are working on it are not doing it for the salary. They are doing it because they strongly believe that space like Buinho should exist.

It is a place where you can eat, sleep, enjoy the unique nature of the Macif central and make cool stuff.

Manzat is a work in progress — we are, together with our residents always improving the spaces and adapting them based on the overall vision and current needs.
