Darknet detector just does not work (out of the box). #8150

I've compiled darknet with these options:

GPU=1
CUDNN=1
CUDNN_HALF=1
OPENCV=1
AVX=0
OPENMP=1
LIBSO=1
ZED_CAMERA=0
ZED_CAMERA_v2_8=0
USE_CPP=1

Compilation finishes with no errors and a metric ton of warnings...

Then I use the command below to test darknet with default yolov4 configuration and yolov4.weights downloaded from Here (AlexeyAB/darknet Repo Readme)

./darknet detector test cfg/coco.data cfg/yolov4.cfg yolov4.weights data/dog.jpg -thresh 0.01

and OpenCV GTK-3 Window pops up showing the predictions.jpg file, the predictions.jpg file is also saved. but nothing is detected.

I've used YoloV4 on Jetson Xavier NX with Jetpack 4.6 (OpenCV 4.1.1 without CUDA) and it works like a charm on custom data. The Model that works on custom data also doesn't work when copied to this Linux machine.

Software I use (as of the opening of this issue): CUDA 11.4 cuDNN: 8.2.4 OpenCV 4.5.3 Compiled with CUDA Support

@AlexeyAB Sorry to tag you, but Is there any solution for this type of issue? I saw two similar open issues which are open. I also have the same issue.

I followed the exact instructions from the Repo. I am sure the yolov3-custom.cfg file is exactly according to the instructions in your repo.

Had the same issue with CUDA 11.7, gcc-12, OpenCV 4.6.0.66 on Arch Linux: objects not detected and QSettings::value: Empty key passed message at the end of execution (this happens only when the compilation is done enabling OpenCV support) Disabling GPU/CUDA support makes the detection process fine.

UPDATE: Further tests make me demonstrate that the trouble comes out enabling the compilation switch CUDNN_HALF=0 Thus, the following setup worked for me with fast GPU support:
