Throttles pedestal. #17

Closed DeputyLOL closed 8 years ago

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

hello again. I finally got internet again and I'm ready to continue!

I wanted to get this one out of the way as it is a big task.

image

The throttle pedestal would be a nice addition as it looks good and contains other levers. A speed brake lever and flap lever. If possible the speed brake (spoilers) level has 3 positions: up (deployed), down (stowed) and armed. The levers at the bottom that are labelled fuel cut-off are basically engine off switches.

Also, my plane has 4 engines, so if possible could you make a 4 throttle variety?

Thank you

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

Edit, using new plane. Only 2 engines.

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

Oh yeah. I knew that sooner or later I'll get this request )))

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

ksp recently updated meaning that we may have thrust reversers. If that is true then can the throttles also have thrust reversers?

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

ok, fair enough. Do you think you could include the trim wheels?

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

of course!

BUT, I do not really understand what a variable used to control the rotation of the wheels, may be STICKPITCHTRIM+ some random value? to make wheels more 'automated' and to make them more 'live'

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

The trim wheels should move randomly but only when the controls are pitching up or down. So when you pull up on the controls there is a chance that the trim wheels will 'trim up' When you push down, they might trim down. And they should always move when the pitch is being trimmed.

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

Stab trim is basically enabling/disabling the trim

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

A/T is the auto throttle. Clicking the button disables it.

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

There is one issue I have though. The cockpit I am using isn't really designed for this. I can't find any other cockpit spaces that I could use and I still can't figure out how to use blender :(

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

I know that these keys do in real life ))), but I do not know how these buttons should work in the KSP

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

Well, I think it wouldn't have a use in vanilla ksp. But there are mods out there that could work with it. I'm sure I could find a use. For now, just have them as a button that can control a persistent.

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

The cockpit I am using isn't really designed for this. I can't find any other cockpit spaces that I could use and

That's the reason I did this prop until now. I thought you found something suitable

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

But the stab trim switches could be used to disable the trim wheels 'random' movements or possibly reset the trim.

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

Or toggle the ability to adjust the trim

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

to disable the trim wheels 'random'

Yes, it is quite feasible

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

or possibly reset the trim.

Or toggle the ability to adjust the trim

I'm not sure that these features are supported by the RPM for now

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

btw, I got a sound that you can use for when the trim wheel is moving.

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

could you also include the 'horn cutout' button. Theres an alarm that aircraft have that warn pilots when they try and retract the gear while on the ground. That button silences that alarm. I have that in my cockpit, and a button to silence it would be useful.

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

ohh! I completely forgot about that button.

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

lovely

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

So, the model is finished. and it was the easiest part ))

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

looks amazing!

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

start adding textures

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

can you rename maximum thrust to 'TO/GA' means 'Take Off/Go Around' power, basically maximum thrust.

Also is that how the stab trim indicators are going to look?

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

i know what mean TO/GA, but we play ksp and it has'nt such functionality. all we can for now - put RPM "fullthrottle" action

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

ok. fair enough.

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

please make sure that all the buttons and levers can be clicked from either side.

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

I believe this term is more appropriate to reality

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

and will not cause confusion

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

please make sure that all the buttons and levers can be clicked from either side.

it is much more dependent on the location of the IVA camera in the particular interior. I can not really guarantee that all buttons will be accessible from any location at any cabin

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

most likely with the "TO/GA" (or max thrust) will be a problem. but even in the FSX these buttons are almost inaccessible

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

ok, we will have to see how it ends up then

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

trim indicator

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

Nice!

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

it's will be driven by STICKPITCHTRIM variable.

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

good. I was wondering if you could the maxRateChange variable to the throttle levers, so that they don't snap to full or off when you press X or Z or max thrust button. Instead they move slowly.

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

of course! )

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

What do you think about the "STAB TRIM" panel ?

real photo:

2015-11-13 03-42-57-076

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

pretty good. although they would have some sort of lock or cover over the switches to prevent accidently switch the trim system off.

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

I suggest replace the STAB TRIM with STAB CTRL, because we don't have such system in ksp. and all we can - turn ON/OFF SAS stability mode

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

yeah I was thinking that.

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

I just really do not want to confusing players))

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

If we do not have such a function it is best not to write it

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

but I can not figure out what to write instead "MAIN ELEC" and "AUTO PILOT"

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

i was also thinking, the engine cutoff switches and stab ctrl switches shouldn't be on/off switches. They should disable a system when the switch is 'active?' and not allow that system to be turned on. When the switch is 'inactive?' the system CAN be turned on.

Alexustas commented 8 years ago

and what actions (RPM or stock) should be assigned to these switches?

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

i would leave them as it is. I just remembered what we were going to use it for.

DeputyLOL commented 8 years ago

"But the stab trim switches could be used to disable the trim wheels 'random' movements or possibly reset the trim."
