Can I use the official ESP32 environment? #1

Hello,

Just received two Lora-ESP32 boards and I'm a bit puzzled by this repo.

It's not clear what changes have been made, it looks like a few months old copy of the official ESP32/Arduino Project, so this means all bugfixes since then haven't been backported. Also using it will break my existing ESP32 environment as the Lora32 isn't the only esp32-based toy I'm playing with.

M5Stack used to do that "install my own copy of esp32 environment" but now they're in the boards list of the official Arduino IDE, which is fine :-)

Can you provide details on those differences?

the only issue i had was there were some mistakes in the Lora OLED ESP32 examples at that time. i had to make some changes to make them work. As the receiver was displaying raw data and not the string version. this was an attempt to fix that.

ah this seems promising, I'll try with the esp32/arduino repo first then

if this works "out of the box" with the new IDE, are you interested in adding the Lora32 to the Arduino IDE boards menu ?

yes it will be great if that can be done.

I tried with the latest esp32/arduino environment by only importing the LoRa library folder from this repo and it worked just fine.

And after updating the Arduino IDE I found out there's a new WiFi Lora 32 entry in the boards menu (or maybe it was already there ?).

Now I'm going to 3dprint boxes because my cat seems to confuse the modules with its toys, I only found this thing so far, do you have some model to recommend ?
