This to write down some ideas about this subject...

Assuming the follownig concerns:

Some ideas:

  1. implementing a Livestatus module to be able to use Thruk
  2. making Alignak Shinken UI compatible
  3. implementing an inner simple retention module based on files

I know that Alignak backend is the response ... but it is not the response to : easily migrating from Nagios / Shinken existing configuration.

As of now, the word easily do not fully match 😉 Setting up a Mongo DB and the Alignak backend is not an easy solution.

On the migartion road, one should have several steps:

  1. my Nagios/Shinken configuration
  2. my first Alignak set-up: replace Nagios/Shinken monitoring framework
  3. my target Alignak set-up: use Alignak backend

As of now, the 2nd step is missing and it may be, imho, quite easily achieved
