After app_rpt git pull on my "Rack" server. I saw this update one line in one of the usb channel drivers. I assumed it what the null pointer fix in issue #250

Enough code has changed here that I think this issue has been incidentally fixed as a consequence. If this happens again, we can reopen (with fresh logs/backtrace).
