@bluepower lamps ligthing bug #102

Open Asshall opened 4 years ago

Asshall commented 4 years ago

As much as I love the Cyan Inverted Lamp I can't bring myself to use them. As soon as I unload the chunk where they are placed all blocks it's blocks ligthing level turn to 0 and need a light update with a torch to get fixed. Couldn't replicate it on a test world so it leads me to believe it is mod conflict. Did not see any related issue on the bluepower github.

I have the same problem, it doesn't update by itself and can't interact with then, like placing a block on top o water on top. they work fine when first placed but then after logout and login , the chunk I spawn in doesn't do light update on these inverted lamps, i need to activate them manually placing something beside

In fact I've had this bug happen even without these lights... I feel like it might happen with a decorative tombstone from @corailtombstone too. It might have something to do with miner's light from the @mininggadget... I really don't know what is causing this...

I can confirm its not just the lights from blue power. I am still in the phase of using Jack o Lanterns for lighting; returning from the nether half my farm suddenly popped and mobs started spawning in 2 chunks in my base. What was weird is it standing in the darkness it showed 0 light from the sky, even though I was in clear daylight with no cover, if I flew up 20-30 blocks it went to 15 light from sky (per f3). Once I updated the light source, sudden the sky light level goes from 0-15. Its weird because I've been playing a lot lately and this is the first time its happened. The only thing common about those chunks is I have Botania going in one, and sending mana to an aggricarnation flower to grow my crops faster. I wonder if it has to do with the mana bursts going between chunks or something on a load. Not sure if anyone else had botania going in there issue.

Update 1: I logged back in and the same thing occured in the same area, though to a lesser degree, only one chunk was effected. So I removed the Aggricarnation (Botania) from the farm and the mana pool as well. After repeatedly logging out to unload chunks as well as bouncing into the nether and back, I am no longer able to cause the lighting glitch. Not sure if this helps, but I'm going to avoid the floating aggricarnation for now until we get an update from the Dev.

I noticed it started happening sometime after adding Botania to the pack, so I suspect Botania is the root cause. I have the lighting level glitch in mulitple chunks on the official server at my base...but I haven't been able to isolate exactly what's causing it. It's not just a rendering issue because it affects light-level related server-side code like mob spawning.

I believe all the chunks I've noticed the issue in have a functional flower in them, some floating, some not. I think the only thing common across all of them is the Solegnalia, but I haven't fully confirmed that, or that there's nothing else in common with all the chunks.

Virii333 commented 4 years ago

LezChap; I can say in my instance I did not have a Solegnalia. The only flowers I had were 5 endoflames, one pure daisy, and one floating Aggricarnation. Not sure if that helps with troubleshooting or not.

Update 1: PLaced a floating Rosa Arcana to clean up xp orbs, and the same thing happened in its chunk. It may be related to the "floating" flowers. I'm going to try and test with non-floating flowers.

I have three chunks which have been impacted by this bug, and this is what I remember in them (don't have the world open right now).

Various random things probably also exist in all those chunks, probably mining lights, torches (probably the Fiery Torches), etc. I believe all the mana pools (and sometimes other items) also had sparks attached, if that impacts anything. Most of the spreaders probably had various lenses as well.

Right now we're trying to isolate the cause of these lighting bugs, so imo, trying to find what they may have in common is a beneficial thing.

Virii333 commented 4 years ago

Well my theory of floating flowers is out, I tried just using a Rosa Arcana, 1 spreader and one mana pool, and the same thing occurred. Back to the drawing board for me.
