Dreadfull dirt stopped working

When version went from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 the dread dirt in my mob farm stopped working. Mobs now only spawn with the general rule , being dark and being x blocks away

I started on this update, and when i placed the dread dirt, it worked fine. Then my game crashed while i was afk. So i restarted the game and the dread dirt stopped working. Its now a normal mob spawn farm with the vanilla rules.

I also am having this issue. Worked fine yesterday. Restarted the server before I got on this afternoon and dreadful dirt is not producing mobs anymore.

Seems to be delightful dirt as well. If you silk touch dig it up and place it back down, it works for 30 seconds or less, then it stops again. It sits and has it's particle effect but even grass doesn't grow on it over time like normal.

If it's the same issue I'm having, you can sit there and flip a lever and it'll keep spawning. Looks like something is suppressing block updates and by providing an update it spawns mobs

I just tryed that and Yes its the same problem.

we have the same problem on our server.

As a temp fix I set redstone under each dirt then used an RF tools timer to toggle it every 20ticks

I just did some testing in a SP world.

• When initially placed, the dirt works as expected.
• If you 'save & quit' and reload without closing the client, the dirt works as expected.
• If you 'save & quit' and relaunch the client, the dirt ceases to work and vanilla spawning rules apply.
  • If you break the dirt and place down new dirt in the same spot, the dirt still does not work.
  • If you place dirt in a new location, the new dirt works as expected until you relaunch the client, as above. Existing dirt stilll does not work.

This is true regardless of chunk claiming or force-loading states.

Edit 13/08/2023 - Did some additional testing on ATM8, which uses the same version of MC and many of the mods, and the issue is not present.
