Redstone mode update

'Redstone chest' should be placed into the team houses at the point players are teleported to the team houses in the arena, in the location shown in the image, with a redstone torch on the wall above, and in the orientation shown.

The chest should contain the following resources from left to right and top to bottom;

64 Redstone Dust 64 Redstone Torch 64 Redstone Block 64 Repeater 64 Comparator 64 Piston 64 Sticky Piston 64 Slime Block 64 Honey Block 64 Observer 64 Hopper 64 Dispenser 64 Dropper 64 Lectern 64 Target 64 Lever 64 Lightning Rod 64 Daylight Detector 64 Tripwire Hook 64 String 64 Redstone Lamp 64 Note Block 64 Stone Button 64 Oak Button 64 Stone Pressure Plate 64 Light Weighted Pressure Plate 64 Heavy Weighted Pressure Plate

Re-opening this issue now as I think it's a good time to determine a clear decision-making framework for 'what Redstone items are included and why'

While remembering that this is largely a 'for fun' game option, I have some early thoughts and general principles in mind...

• Items currently need to fit in a single chest due to space constraints. I want to re-examine whether I could fit a double chest into both Modern and Vintage starter houses
• I want to favour the inclusion of items that are more difficult to craft or gather
• I want to favour the inclusion of items that have specific or unique Redstone functions
• I'd like to have a way to very quickly measure(?) or balance(?) or decide between(?) the specific use and ease of craft-ability of item X when compared to item Y

For example, taking a very simplistic situation...

I think it is more reasonable to expect a player to craft a Wooden or Stone Pressure Plate versus an Iron or Gold Pressure Plate, but might a Wooden or Stone Pressure Plate 'feel' so intrinsically essential to a technically-minded Redstone player that they would consider it an essential inclusion to this game option? This is the information I need

I think my starting point should be the creation of a complete list of all useful Redstone items, both from Mojang's point of view (creative menu) and (more importantly) from players' points of view - and I need to talk to Redstone experts to gather this information

Last row is for extras, less useful, but life savers when you need them

I tried to put as much variety as possible into a chest and left away any items that are cheap or easy to craft. This is what I came up with:

There is six groups of items in the chest:

• Red: Basic redstone components
• Orange: Triggers
• Green: Slimestone
• Yellow: Rails
• Cyan: Soundstone
• Magenta: Crafter

The Amethyst Shards don't have any function, but can be used for crafting Calibrated Sculk Sensors and Amethyst Blocks.

I left out some items that are present in the other suggestions:

• Redstone Dust: can be easily crafted from Redstone Blocks
• Redstone Torches: can be easily crafted
• Buttons, Pressure Plates (Wood, Stone), Levers: can be easily crafted
• Sticky Pistons: can be crafted from regular Pistons and Slime Balls (via Slime Blocks)
• Wool: can be crafted from String
• Redstone Lamp: I chose the Copper Bulb instead as it can be used as a compact T flip-flop
• Glass: can be easily smelted from Sand

Some other useful blocks I left out:

• Chest, Cauldron, Composter, Barrel, Chiseled Bookshelf (useful for signal strengths, easy to craft)
• Trapped Chest (easy to craft)
• Note Block (easy to craft)
• Furnace (there are already some immovable blocks in the chest. They can also be easily crafted)
• Boats (easy to craft)
• Wooden Doors and Wooden Trapdoors (easy to craft)
• Iron Door and Iron Trapdoor (I feel like these are only slightly more useful than their wooden counterparts)
• Bell (limited usability and there is one on the Village Chunk)

I am not quite sure about the usefulness of the Crafter in Chunk Wars. Also, Glazed Terracotta can be easily made from Terracotta, which is available on the map (similar to Glass and Sand). These blocks could be replaced with other blocks. Possible replacements, other than the blocks I listed above, could be:

• Lecterns, Decorated Pots (signal strengths)
• Wool (the String in the chest would only yield 16 Wool, which limits the possible Soundstone contraptions)

I deliberately left out some items:

• Minecarts: mainly because they don't stack. But I imagine that not many are needed for contraptions, so the available iron on the map should be sufficient
• TNT: very powerful item, so should be a bit harder to obtain. Some TNT is available on the map already.
• Big Dripleaf: I feel like the use cases in PVP redstone contraptions are too niche.
