Add exhaust or more intense ventilation in the small boxes #69

After session is finished, I clearly smell the box. I fear there might be a buildup of odorant as the session progresses.

Further way of assessing it is using the PID and trigger the odor valves and equivalent amount of times while the door is closed #70

Helio on it to bring the exhaustion in the ceiling to inside the box.

The exhaust is noisy ish, and with a funnel inside the box, it is going to noisier. I may have a solution, that I need to order a few thinks.

Investigate other fan option or other vaccum lines @HeRodrgues Let's dicuss options. Need this implemented before next patch of mice

I have some ideas, and correctly, I'm just waiting for some components to arrive to test if the concept works.

Is the tubing in the box ready for this test next week?

We need to switch from the top box to the bottom box, and I left Thanksgiving week open so we could run all the tests needed for the exhaust.

The tests that @tiffanyona and I ran over a month ago were inconclusive. The olfactometers delivered different amounts of particles, so we needed to calibrate them. But from what I could interpret from our last two 2:1 meetings, the PID needs to be calibrated for us to get a more precise recording, and this was going to be done by you @cindypoo and @bruno-f-cruz. For that reason, @cindypoo and @JeremiahYCohen decided to move this to a ToDo, and at the moment, this is on my in-progress list, just for me to give you guys support on ordering components.

thanks for updating the info here. @tiffanyona do you think we need to add more intense exhaust on the boxes or is it OK for now? if so let's close this issue?

I think until we describe the problem better with the PID, I would close this issue. I will add a point for the olfactory calibration to perform a 1h calibration with continue odor presentation to see if there any substantial building or decrease in the box (this can also help us see if there is a decrease in headspace odor concentration)
