I think we are not doing this and instead doing a coherent Genesis laser driver?

That is correct. I think we will deprecate the MPB lasers within the next 1-2 months. The Genesis lasers will need a driver written. Unfortunately it looks like from the manual (attached) that they may not operate with pure serial commands, but instead through a Windows DLL. We could reach out to the Coherent tech team to inquire about a way to write something which is OS agnostic.
