Pkriens/open md files #59

Trying to allow .md files for opening modules. The previous attempt did it for internal modules this should do it for the (intended) external modules.

@eskang @aleksandarmilicevic could one of you approve it? It is a small change to also look for md files when a file is opened related to #57 .

I am merging this since it seems quite trivial and someone is waiting for it.
