Button presses not registered #640

Trying to configure my XINMO dual controllers on a pi3 and the button presses are not being registered. I can hold down the button and it correctly identifies the device but when it asks for mapping no button presses are registered and I am forced to quit.

I have two xin-mo dual controllers and ES recognizes them but will not allow me to configure any of the inputs. When I go to configure the input it just sits there.... I have tested with jstest and all the buttons and joysticks work fine.

I've tried multiple joysticks and two different xinmo's
