EmulationStation crashes when opening games on Steam Deck #866

I'm trying to play games in desktop mode on the Steam Deck and every time I open a game, the screen goes black and then returns me back to the game selection screen. I've looked for solutions online and reinstalled EmulationStation, any tips?
