Describe your issue
When a fuel tank has between three and four buckets of fluid (exclusive) inside it, putting a bucket of fuel into the tank fills the tank up to four full buckets... but leaves a full bucket of fuel in your hands, as if you'd never used it to put fuel in the tank. It is possible to stick that fluid into a different tank. 1000mb. I have not tested this with fuel gauges or ingot tanks/gauges, but I suspect they'd have the same issue.
