Hi @jdblair, just curious -- what would be the benefit(s) of such an analysis? What real world application do you have in mind?
@taa1: Mostly HDMI analyzers are used for debugging HDMI drivers. There's a fairly messy negotiation that happens when you connect an HDMI device. Another application is characterizing the behavior of an HDMI source, such as how a device maps SDR to HDR colorspace.
I want to use NETV2 as a platform to create a low-cost HDMI analyzer with pass-thru capability. It will be somewhat limited since it will not be able to negotiate HDCP, but I will be able to perform very useful analysis of an un-encrypted SDR and HDR10.
Open question: is there enough bandwidth to decode a 4k signal?
