SparkFun MOSFET Power Control Kit was deprecated, do you have advice for a replacement? #4

Hello,

SparkFun MOSFET Power Control Kit (474-COM-12959), which you use to control LED lights was deprecated. Do you have an advice on what I could use to replace it? I found this (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11214) but it seems to have different characteristics and list of included items.

apologies for the delayed reply!

Absolutely! Currently there are two existing solutions:

  1. @mathiaslec has kindly shared with us his ingenious solution of an adapter that can hold a different MOSFET

  2. simultaneously with mathias I confirmed suitability of the Power switch MOSFET PWM 15A 400W, XY-MOS module for SPIRO and designed and update of Borgs nest to harbor it.

I have been accumulating hardware upgrades to put up SPIRO version 2. It is not fully complete yet, but I can put up the upgrades that are ready. For example, I also tested applicability of a much cheaper green LED strip from amazon with a higher density of LEDs - it works great and the LED frame for it can be printed now in one piece.

May I ask what is your application for SPIRO?)
