Rework lore to make Dominion and Sevorum non-Alphas? #51

FallenCat: He's trying to do all these things with the Alphas and he has no clue what MZ has already written about them FallenCat: unacceptable Derpy Horse: My thoughts exactly; I told him that when he's writing the story, he needs to seriously work off of the Mil'taj, because to make a story working straight off of the Mil'taj instead of the Alphas would be more lore friendly. Derpy Horse: It wouldn't be hard to just remove mentions of the Alphas and make the Dominion and Sevorum other alien races, too.

I've thought this from the beginning, but I've kind of let it slide for a bit. This doesn't need to be done immediately, but I think a thing to do before making the story would be to make the Dominion and Sevorum something other than the Alphas and leave the Alphas to MZ for now. Either that or wait (a long time) until MZ is seemingly finished with the Alphas and go from there.

You could even leave them to be genetically altered humans from the past, hiding away for centuries from the prosecution of Humanity, just not the same as the Alphas that we know and that only MZ knows the fate of.

Idea: the Dominion are a group of Deep scientist from the time of the Turf Wars that instead of trying to create the perfect war machines, tried to enhance their own intelligence. After the whole Alpha situation and the crack down on genetic engineering, they were cast out of Human space and found refuge with the Mil'taj. Over time, the Dominion grew in strength to one day return to the Deep and conquer Human space. Although, some among the Dominion wanted to respect Humanity and split off to create the Sevorum, more friendly to Humanity and hostile toward the Dominion and Mil'taj. Then, during the story, you could try and seek help from the Sevorum to fight off the Dominion.

Closing this, as this will be handled by the first contact missions mentioned in #84 Landing on the Servorum worlds, you will get a first contact mission where they tell you a bit about themselves, including the new lore listed above.
