Missions

We have expanded the window for missions to be 9 columns wide, and it can go infinitely (maybe) downwards as well, meaning we are able to add in a lot more detail and flavour to our mission trees. Our aim for our 1.0 release is to have a set for 11 major nations; England, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Denmark, the Dutch Republic, Muscovy, the Ottomans, Poland and Sweden. Currently we are in the progress of polishing off Portugal and Spain's mission trees, respectively having 158 and 150; and we have at least 4 more in progress.

Map

Our map is an amalgamation of various map mods that have been made and curated throughout the years. Originally started as Beyond the Pale, it added in some extra provinces in areas, which then was combined with Typus Orbus Terrarum, to become Beyond Typus, curated by the wonderful Draoicht, Dub and Chairman Meow. From there we have added in even more detail, both our own, and taking inspiration from other mods. Areas that have been specifically improved by our team are the Netherlands, France, the British Isles, Iberia, Germany, various locations in North America and various Polynesian islands. A couple of other mods have been integrated, including South East Asia Overhaul by Cinnamon Royce and Beyond Typus China by Konstantinos. A full overview of credits will be at the end of the description.

New tags

As part of our effort to add more flavour into the game, we've edited the map, but of course this by itself would not provide the amount of detail we were looking for. Many new tags have been addded (some would say excessively so), ranging from new native tribes across the globe, to feudal lord within the big nations. Don't worry though! If you would prefer a simplified experience, or like my (Atlan) computer won't be able to handle it, we have options for reducing the number of tags. We have performance options for major nations, integrating some of the feudal subjects, as well as limiting or removing natives either in individual regions or globally. However if you want to go the other way and are happy to melt that CPU, you can advance the start date 1 or 2 days forwards, and you will see extra detail. Currently only the 1444 start date and the two days after are supported!

New Trade Goods

Another item we've changed is adding in some more trade goods, to better represent economies of smaller areas, and give better representation to all factors of production. The items we've added include softwood, hardwood and tropical wood as a split item from timber, marble, dates, olives, apiculture, fruit (generally representing more traditional plantation/orchard type fruits), millet, maize, potatoes and rice as split up grain trade goods, silver and whales. Two trade goods that we have carried over from Beyond Typus are beer and books.

New Subject Types

We have added a few new subject types to try to represent political interactions between nations a bit more accurately. We have fiefs, which you are able to make a smaller nation of the same culture group, generally representing for example, a duke under a king. These do not take up diplo slots but are not as strong militarily as a regular vassal. Then we have domains, which are the more "advanced" versions of fiefs. They tend to be on the border of your empire, and can establish this in lots of locations, for example, you can make domains out of Indian nations as Great Britian, as historically they didn't just own all the land. We also have a paramountcy/confederacy type of subject, where all members are equal in the union. This is used to represent certain native tribes and their dynamics, as well as a nation like Switzerland, which has only been a unified nation since the Peace of Westphalia.

New Development System

Development has been tweaked, but fear not! For those of you who are not keen on massive overhauls, be reassured, it is not totally alien from the vanilla system. In your provinces usually you have admin, diplo and military values. This has been adjusted in our versions, so admin represents wealth of a province, diplo represents infrastructure of a province and military represents population. Now population isn't something a monarch can just force to grow, however wealth and infrastructure naturally comes from that type of development manually made by the ruler. Population naturally grows over time depending on a few factors such as climate (which has been overhauled so climate and terrain are separate), devastation from wars, famines (which occur when a province has more population than its infrastructure can handle). This gradual growth means that you won't find native American tribes with more development than Paris anymore!

New Native Mechanics

We will also include an overhaul of Native Mechanics and tags, due to their desperate need of flavor and intrigue. This was especially important due to the immense multitude of native tags we have added. Included in the overhaul is... -A new two tier system of governments, starting with Primitive as the lowest tier and Tribal as the second. A Primitive government must first reform into a Tribal government before advancing to the more developed government types. -A multitude of new government types along with a rework of tribal reforms. -New vassal systems for tags with native governments, specifically the Paramountcy -Several new Tech Groups -A new Clan System based on Estates -Various other smaller additions involving armies, navies, buildings, and so on.

New Buildings

New buildings have been added to the roster, while still including the original ones. This includes extra levels to existing building types, building levels of settlement (town, city and metropolis) that can only be built once a certain level of population is reached. Some levels of buildings can only be built once a level of settlement has been built, and values are adjusted to try to balance them better. Finally some unique buildings that can only be built in one province per nation that provide global benefits.

Extras! -Integration of Byzantine Resurgence by Dub! -Integration of Third Odyssey by Scurek -Integration of National Ideas Expanded -Integration of Governments Expanded

As a mod and as a team, we would like to thank the following mods and members in their team for all the effort they have put in and for helping this mod become what it is today
