MCOM 3347 contains highlighted text, cf. https://github.com/AmerMathSoc/ams-doc-sources/pull/1243. This is produced by \colorbox{mylinkcolor}{\textcolor{white}{highlighted}}).

JATS does not have a good element (beyond <styled-content>) while HTML has a reasonable fit with <mark>, cf https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/mark. Custom colors will be an additional problem.

For now we can punt on this but we may want to take a look at this in the future.

We recently had a bulletin paper using red text (referencing th red parts of a graphic); this was simply dropped from the HTML.
