I wanted to alert the community to two new mosaic resources to help instructors by providing annotated examples from textbooks. Newly completed sites include:
These materials are intended to help both instructors and students work through the analyses found in the fourth editions of ‘Intro Stats’ and ‘Stats: Data and Models’ (De Veaux, Velleman, and Bock). These resources provide annotated examples of the use of R to generate graphs, displays, models, and calculations found in the books. The examples help support the use of R in the classroom by providing all the necessary code needed for an introduction to statistics course
In R, the mosaic package enables students to interact with data in a user friendly and consistent manner not generally seen in base R. More information on Project MOSAIC and these resources can be found at https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/mosaic
In addition to the Intro Stats and Data and Models books, similar resources to be found for other books in statistics. These include The Statistical Sleuth in R and Introduction to the Practice of Statistics in RLock 5 and Tintle et al . These, in addition to many other helpful resources such as the mosaic LittleBooks, can be found in the mosaic-resources vignette of the Project Mosaic CRAN page given above.
Please let me know if you have any issues accessing these files or if you note any errors.
This is looking good and is ready to send out when you get your ASA membership. Can you please cc me on your email to Anne Torrey regarding the status of your membership?
