For example: apples and bananas

5a + 5b = 60 2a + 2b = 33

Also, the difference in price between an apple and a banana. So (a-b) = 3.

Calculate the perimeter of L

Ams627 commented 1 year ago

Solution to the above. We will use letters S, L, M and X to represent one side of each type of square. X = the XL square.

For the big square: 4s + m = 260 - 2m which means 4s + 3m = 260. The large square L: L = 4S. So for the medium square 2M = 6S, which means M = 3S.

Therefore 4s + 9s = 260, 13S = 260, so S = 20 and L = 80 and the perimeter is 320 cm.

Eleven points separating ten equal parts are shown on the number line. Points A, B, C, D represent four numbers. At point C is the number 48. The number at D is 24 greater than the number at B.

  1. Mark the point P where the number 0 is on the number line.
  2. Calculate the number at point A.

image

Solution: D - B = 24, so one division is 8.

A = 48 - 64 = -16.
