I am also having this problem. Up until last week it was working correctly,
and the first time it did this was yesterday (I did not use the extension in
the time in between). I have tried reloading the extension as well as
uninstalling & re-installing it, but the problem persists. I did make sure
that I am logged in to my Google account.
I am running Chrome version 24.0.1312.52 m, and my OS is Windows Vista 64-bit.

It was working earlier this week but it doesn't now.
I'm not 100% sure, but it might be due to the last Chrome update.

Yup same here. It just stopped working for me too. I got the blank screen of
death (new moniker lol) just as everyone else here. Anyway it can be one of
three things for me; a bug with the last google chrome update, a bug
non-related to the google chrome update, or an issue with signing into google
chrome from multiple different computers (which I recently attempted for the
first time this week).

I tried deleting the official Google Tasks extension and installed a third
party version and it still does not work. I still get the blank screen of
death. I think there was a problem with the last chrome update because for some
reason the Google Tasks data is not connecting with the chrome extension
anymore. So frustrating!

just vote for the bug by clicking the star in the web interface.

Hey in addition to posting your issue here, also go to your Chrome settings
menu>click "About Google Chrome">"Report an issue">then let them know what has
been going on. I just did it but that's not enough. We should all do it so that
we get as many Google personnel aware of this frustrating issue.

I had tasks working great as a web page in my proto page but it recently quit
working too.
I suspect that Google made a change that does not allow tasks to be in a frame.
That is something that I really use a lot because it syncs perfectly with my
Taskos android app. I am bummed.
my temporary work around is that I made a link button on a page on my sever so
I can do a popup 300x600 scrolless window.
like so
<HEAD>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!-- Begin
function popUp(URL) {
day = new Date();
id = day.getTime();
eval("page" + id + " = window.open(URL, '" + id + "',
'toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=0,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=0,width=250,h
eight=600');");
}
// End -->
</script>
</HEAD>
<!-- STEP TWO: Use the following button code for the new window -->
<form>
<input type=button value="Open the Popup Window"
onClick="javascript:popUp('https://mail.google.com/tasks/ig')">
</form>

I mentioned that it might be due to multiple logins because I signed onto
Chrome at school and upon signing on at school it loaded all of my bookmarks
and extensions. But when it got to the Google Tasks extension I had to
reauthorized it which I thought was strange because I already authorized the
Tasks extension access into my Google account. Well this was the same week of
the last chrome update and I can't figure out if it was because of the update
or because of the multiple authorizations from different computers. All of my
other Chrome extensions works fine i.e. google Calendar and voice.

I can access my tasks directly again via https://mail.google.com/tasks/ig.
That is better than opening tasks through gmail, but not nearly as handy as
this extension, which is still opening blank.
