What happened?

New Russia Today (RT) videos don't have dislikes for some strange reason. I am assuming servers for this application are hosted in the EU where RT is now banned.

How to reproduce/recreate?

Navigate on a new tab (because the extension seems to cache past results) to any of those pages and you will see they are missing dislikes. You can also see the error here: https://returnyoutubedislikeapi.com/votes?videoId=9d2o9FjTZVw for a recent RT video. Old RT videos work as expected.

Most probably the backend isn't getting any votes to extrapolate.

2 reasons (as of 3 Feb 22 UTC)

YouTube blocked Russian State-Controlled channels in Europe https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/russia-ukraine-latest-news-2022-03-01/card/youtube-blocks-russian-state-controlled-channels-in-the-europe-0FUtyPt4wj1f89zDIEoF
https://returnyoutubedislikeapi.com/ is blocked in Russia. If you are there, you won't be able to view or submit dislike votes unless you use a proxy or a VPN.

Videos uploaded before this do have dislikes.

I assume (potentially incorrectly) that the US / Canada where RT is not blocked would make up the majority of their traffic. I might be wrong.

I have a hard time thinking this video for example has not seen any dislikes from extension users: https://youtu.be/hs2bqgvVIgM. I disliked the video and refreshed the page, it shows the word dislike with no dislikes.

https://returnyoutubedislikeapi.com/ is blocked in Russia

I guess it's really hurting some people as YT corporate has claimed

There are two reasons for this:

these videos are blocked in europe, where servers are located
https://returnyoutubedislikeapi.com/ shares ip (via cloudflare) with some blocked resources in russia.

I'll look for a workaournd
