Linkable references in Study Pads #1806

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. It's a little challenging to takes notes on a Topical study using Study Pads given the segmented nature of text and bookmarks. Also, with the current system, there is no easy way to dynamically create a bookmark of a passage in the study pad without looking the passage up and creating it there.

Describe the solution you'd like Instead of creating and moving bookmarks around in the Study Pad I would like to have scripture references automatic clickable. If I type, Exo 23:1 I would like so I can click that link to open the reference. Also, it would be nice to be able to add a colon at the end and it automatically inserts the text for that reference into the study pad, or creates a bookmark for that verse.

Dana, in the study pad you can create linkable ref. To a passage. Alternatively you can have another Bible window open where you can copy and paste passages into the pad note. Also if you tap and hold on the bible ref for the verse that you have copied into the pad after highlighting the book chap:verse tap the book icon with the cross and this will create a clickable ref. Back to that passage. I don't really see the advantage of creating a bookmark from within the study pad but that's just me and it doesn't mean that that feature couldn't be implemented but only Tuomas and the other devs can answer that. Does @bvahedy 's answer address this sufficiently? Perhaps we could add "add bookmark" button in 3dot tool button of study pad row, that would allow adding bookmark using bookmark selector. But I don't know if that would be handy. I believe that #1694 would address this better.

Perhaps it could be an optional feature that if user adds references to the text using the method described earlier by @bvahedy, the system would automatically create bookmarks just under the associated study pad entry. It could be handy.

I didn't think #1694 was related to this - I thought it was so that new bookmarks could get added at a particular location in the Study Pad, not just at the end all the time. I like this idea and i think it is worth pursuing.

I do find moving bookmarks a pain. It's great that it is possible - just a pain to have to do it. Most times i just want all my bookmarks in the Bible order. I have some thoughts on how these features could be managed but shall keep that for another issue.

As for adding a bookmark without going to the verse, I feel that is such a big departure from the normal workflow for adding bookmarks that it would require a very compelling reason to pursue it. I can't see how it would help me much either. Either I have to type the reference in or navigate to the reference. Both take time but i prefer the latter. I suspect this might be an example of an additional feature bening like additional rope - just enough to hang ourselves with. Shall ponder it though.

@bvahedy Wow. I didn't know that did that. I was looking for a link icon. Of course, automatic links, like some software does with email addresses and web URLs would be cool. That might be too much work given the number of languages support and the many different way references could be written.

@bvahedy 's answer is perfect. Only thing better is automatic links as I mentioned to @bvahedy .

That's a possibility. Otherwise, just quote the reference. Maybe an option in the Bible reference dialog.
