Webview is too old and UI is expected to misbehave.
Hello @tuomas2 i have removed superfluous matter from this issue and would like you to reevaluate and potentially reopen it (maybe reset the lables to be Bug).
Mine goes down to 1pt. This used to look different /better. I was able to see the bookmarks more clearly if I recall correctly. Not sure what is different (if anything).
The advantage of the really really tiny text was to get a feel for where topics are in the entire passage.
I think this is to the side of your issue though.
You appear to have the same problem as I have described: big text overlapping (but I don't know why your text is grey, but I can zoom in and see the letters are big and overlap, "Moses says" has no adjacent lines so can be read clear and is about 46% height of the lower frame. See below, i have enhanced your image). I don't plan on going back to find when it 'was better' right now, the present size on that device is workable, but having the choice of a smaller workspace is good.
With the frames side by side as mine, first adjust one frame to where it is about to overlap, then adjust the neighbouring frame font size down and find where the text is equal to the first. That is the minimum you can adjust to, beyond that it only reduces the spacing between lines and then it overlaps the text, so yes you can adjust the app to "1pt" but it is not what you get. That was what I displayed in the Android 10 image above, both the "4pt" and the 9pt text were the same size.
If "no" then change to "wont fix". Did seem a simple matter though.
ok reopening then.
Found solution! In Android's developer options, scroll down to Drawing section, adjust "minimum width" (or "smallest…) - adjust upwards to 700-750 (result varies between devices, some won't allow so small that tapping things becomes hard) or comfortable size that is good in all apps (home screen icon sizes reducable a bit by changing grid).
Then adjust font size again in A.B. and under "all text options" adjust line spacing to about 1.6x.
The only issue now is I need more sizes, 11pt is almost twice the height of 10pt.
Other minor problems:
I have two devices, they both limit the minimum size the text that can be shown on them, which is a shame because the older one has a fine-pixel screen. I notice AndBible has a text-shrink feature which begins when the column is narrow and the text most certainly does shrink below the size you would normally be able to set. Can a way be offered to use this shrink method usefully?
A) with the old webview one (android 5), It will show a small sample but bible screen does not go low, minimum size is shown (same size: if system setting is "Huge" minimum shown is called 6pt, "small" is 9pt, and will not shrink it lower).
Tried changing some times then saved this: logcat.txt.gz
Second image with left column shrunk to a comfortable viewing size (settings of columns: SS-condensed light 5pt 1.1x spacing):
B) with the Android 10 device, at lower settings, below 9pt the line height changes and the text does not, and will overlap, android font size set to Default. This shows (1)mini text (2) "4pt" text (3) 9pt text (4) 10pt text (5) 16pt text.
