so I generally find dating sites scary and overwhelming and I've found myself not whitelisting anyone because I'm scared it actively tells them I did that instead of being a passive thing, like only if they tried to message me or a only if we both did it thing ...I assume from the way it's presented that it's not an active notifyingy thing, but, can it be clearer?
