There's also a coalition of open source applications that want to do bluetooth tracing at https://www.tcn-coalition.org
As I'm a member there and am trying to get more projects in, I'd also very much like to now your guys stance on that.
If you prefer to discuss this in a different bug, feel free to split.
@leggewie Hey, we tried to collaborate with pepp-pt but sadly without any success. As the pepp proposal is not using asymmetric encryption, the minute someone decides to report him/herself all of his/her ID's will be disclosed. This of course is a problem for privacy. They are aware of this issue and don't want to solve it with technical measures.
@dwt cool, we'd be happy to join.
@dcale: Very cool, I'll refer you to someone who can help - as we only founded Sunday night, we're still a little short on processes. As the contact person is on NewYork time, it will take a little time for him to wake up first though. :-)
@dcale, thank you for the explanation. That's indeed unfortunate. Is this discussion available publicly somewhere?
@dcale For now, you can at any point create a pull request on https://github.com/TCNCoalition/website and promote 1-2 people to add to the slack channel to start the discussion.
@dcale If you'd like, just send me two email addresses so I can invite them to the slack channel of TCN. (You can find my email via my GitHub profile)
The PEPP-PT is BS. Not open source and just another C-19 app with good idea and no transparency. Just ignore.
There is discussion of an emerging standard called PEPP-PT for contact tracing apps. Are you aware of this? Will WeTrace support this standard, possibly as an opt-in?
I believe support of an official standard will be crucial to drive adoption which in turn is crucial for the success of any of these apps. A such, I very much welcome the creation of such a standard. Now is the time to join the discussion while the standard is being developed.
